In honor of Alain Silberstein’s birthday

Today the watch on my wrist is the Alain Silberstein Krono Bauhaus 2 in bronze-pvd treated titanium. The watch is fitted with a brown rubber strap (with folding buckle) indicating Alain Silberstein’s saying “le vrai bonheur est d’avoir sa passion pour metier”.

Alain Silberstein Krono 2 bronze

Alain Silberstein was THE forerunner of ‘avant garde’ watch making in the nineties, and still is a very influential watchmaker in terms of original designs . Today, June 14th, he celebrates his birthday, and I thought it’s a good idea to honor him by wearing one of his watches.

The model I wear has the reference KT 402 B. It was produced in 2009 together with the black pvd’d titanium version (KT 401 B) in a limited series of in total 999 pieces. Exact numbers per color are not known however will be most probably 50/50 Alain told me. The list price in 2009 was € 7.800,=.

The 40 mm watch houses a cosmetically modified Valjoux 7751 automatic movement, has anti reflective sapphire crystal on top and at the back, and is stunningly waterproof to 100 meters. Above all it’s a real pleasure wearing it!

Beautiful watch. I’m a big fan of Mr. Silberstein’s work, and have that very same watch in my to-buy list.

It’s nice to find out that our birthdays are two days apart, perhaps that explains some of the admiration!
