Hublot, Couvercle 20th anniversary

Do you actually know when Hublot first startet? Was it 10 years ago? No that was when Jean-Claude Biver took over and from when onwards once in a sudden everybody heard about the brand.

Hublot Couvercle front

No it was 34 years ago, and Hublot wasn’t founded as a brand. Hublot (French for porthole, where did we see that before?) was the name of the first model of the brand MDM Geneve, founded in 1980 by Italian Carlo Crocco. He stirred the watch world with the Hublot model, making it the first watch in solid gold on a rubber strap.

Hublot open

What we have here is a re-edition of the original Hublot Couvercle (or Hunter) for the 20th anniversary of MDM Geneve/Hublot in 2000. A watch in stainless steel of which in total only 200 pieces were produced, in three different versions. With a 18 carat yellow gold, a rose gold or a white gold medallion in the cap of the hunter case. This one obviously being the white gold medallion version and bearing the number 015/200.

Hublot back

The watch is not flawless, and has clearly been used for some years. However technically the watch, rubber strap and folding buckle as well, are in perfect and fully functional condition. The cover flips open by pressing the bottom left screw at the watch case.

Hublot set

It comes complete with some booklets, a Hublot cloth, an information print, the original inner- and outer box, however no certificate. As well there are two extra band pieces supplied. All band pieces have different lengths so that in a certain combination it will fit all regular size wrists.
